1792 Wilton Road (1984, 1995)

This 1910 colonial revival house was purchased by its owners in 1994 and substantially enlarged. It is an example of how a classic Cleveland Heights house can be modified and expanded to meet a family's evolving needs. The existing house was augmented by a considerable two-story addition to the back of the structure, which accommodates a family room on the first floor and a master bedroom and bath on the second. A commodious deck added at the same time abuts the first floor living area.

An arched door frame leads the viewer's eye visually from the entryway to the family room addition by way of the recently renovated kitchen. The owners restored the original woodwork throughout the downstairs, including the pocket doors at both dining room entryways. White walls throughout the house brighten and magnify the interior space.

By contrast, the master bedroom addition on the second floor is very contemporary. Inuit woodcuts and a 70-year-old quilt lead the viewer into the expansive bedroom space. An eclectic mix of antique and contemporary artwork and furnishings reward the viewer in this house.
