2237 Chestnut Hills Drive (1993)

Like its neighbors, this 1902 brick Colonial Revival started life with its main entrance and front yard facing Ambleside far below. In 1925 the house was enlarged with additions to its north and south sides, and the entrance was reoriented toward Chestnut Hills Drive. In the properties along this section of Chestnut Hills, the very large front yards had originally been considered backyards.

The present, and fourth, owner bought the property four years ago and has extensively renovated it. Work has included: replacing all of the windows and corresponding interior sills and moldings; restructuring and rebuilding the kitchen; installation of substantial track lighting; and redecoration of most interior surfaces. In addition to the four bedrooms on the second floor, the third floor includes a five-room suite accessible from the maid's staircase next to the kitchen.

The crystal chandelier in the dining room was a marriage gift to a previous owner from the Oglebay family in West Virginia. The owner's fiestaware collection is vibrantly displayed in the kitchen pantry area.

The house boasts breathtaking views of the downtown skyline from most west-facing windows and from its backyard pool. The owner has established a number of beautiful perennial beds surrounding the house. There is a functioning fountain overlooking a pool and a waterfall adjacent to the pool.
